Key Responsibilities
- Sort and pre-treat soiled linens, separating items according to type, color, and degree of soiling.
- Operate commercial washing machines, dryers, and ironing equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring correct water temperatures, detergent amounts, and cycle times.
- Follow strict infection control and safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling contaminated materials.
- Inspect linens for damage or stains, reporting any issues to the supervisor for appropriate action.
- Fold, stack, and organize clean linens, preparing them for distribution to various hospital departments.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry area, including equipment, floors, and storage spaces.
- Transport clean and soiled linens between the laundry facility and patient care units, adhering to designated routes and schedules.
- Monitor laundry supply levels and inform the supervisor of needs for reordering detergents, softeners, and other materials.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
