Key Responsibilities
- Sort all soiled linens (sheets, towels, tablecloths, uniforms) according to type, colour, and fabric, preparing them for washing.
- Operate industrial washing machines and dryers, adhering to proper loading procedures, temperature settings, and chemical usage guidelines.
- Monitor laundry equipment for proper functioning, reporting any malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly to the supervisor.
- Iron, press, and fold all laundered items neatly and efficiently, ensuring they meet the hotel's presentation standards.
- Inspect items for stains or damage, treating or re-washing as necessary, and discarding items beyond repair.
- Maintain accurate inventory of linen stock, assisting with regular counts and reporting shortages to management.
- Deliver clean linen to designated storage areas and departments (housekeeping, restaurant, etc.) as required.
- Ensure the laundry room is kept clean, organised, and free of hazards at all times, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Handle guest laundry with care and discretion, following specific instructions and ensuring timely return.
- Assist with other housekeeping duties or ad-hoc tasks as required to support hotel operations.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing for extended periods, lifting, bending, and pushing laundry carts.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
- Reliability and punctuality, with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of English to comprehend instructions and communicate with colleagues.
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures in a laundry environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a hotel laundry or similar commercial laundry operation.
