Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Laundry Supervisor to lead our essential laundry operations at Sefikeng Sa Mohale Guest House. This is a critical role responsible for ensuring the efficient processing of all linens, towels, and guest items, maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organization. As Laundry Supervisor, you will oversee a small but vital team, manage inventory, ensure equipment is well-maintained, and implement best practices for garment care and sanitation. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, and schedule laundry staff, ensuring adherence to guest house standards, policies, and procedures for cleanliness and service.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the laundry department, including sorting, washing, drying, ironing, folding, and distributing all linens, uniforms, and guest laundry.
  • Implement and maintain stringent quality control measures to ensure all items are cleaned to the highest standards and free from damage.
  • Manage inventory of laundry supplies, chemicals, and linen, placing orders as needed to ensure continuous operation and minimize waste.
  • Conduct routine inspections of laundry equipment, coordinating with maintenance for timely repairs and preventive servicing to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Develop and enforce safety protocols and best practices for chemical handling, machinery operation, and general workplace safety within the laundry area.
  • Maintain accurate records of linen consumption, production, and equipment maintenance, preparing reports for management as required.
  • Address and resolve any laundry-related issues or guest complaints promptly and professionally, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment, encouraging teamwork, efficiency, and professional development among staff.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in laundry operations, preferably within a hospitality setting.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities with a focus on staff development.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for quality assurance and inventory management.
  • Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting commercial laundry equipment.
  • Knowledge of various fabrics, cleaning chemicals, and stain removal techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, for clear instructions and reporting.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A certificate or diploma in Hospitality Management or a related field.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a hotel, guest house, or similar establishment.
  • Familiarity with environmental best practices in laundry operations.
  • First Aid and Safety certifications.
