Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and meticulous Legal Assistant specialising in Drafting, Filing & Case Support to join a dynamic legal team in Stannington, Sheffield. Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting, reviewing, and proofreading a variety of legal documents, correspondence, and forms, ensuring accuracy, grammatical correctness, and adherence to legal standards.
  • Managing and organising physical and electronic case files, ensuring all documents are current, correctly categorised, and easily retrievable for fee earners.
  • Liaising effectively with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and third parties to gather information, schedule appointments, and manage all forms of communication.
  • Assisting with the comprehensive preparation for court hearings, client meetings, and various legal proceedings, including compiling legal bundles and preparing presentations.
  • Performing legal research under the guidance of solicitors, summarising findings concisely, and assisting in the preparation of legal briefs and memos.
  • Maintaining an efficient and compliant filing system, which includes opening and closing files, archiving, and ensuring strict adherence to data protection regulations (GDPR).
  • Handling a wide array of administrative tasks such as diary management, scheduling appointments, booking travel arrangements, and processing expenses for legal professionals.
  • Preparing and processing legal aid applications, court forms, and other procedural documentation required for case progression.
  • Managing incoming and outgoing mail, emails, and phone calls, redirecting queries as appropriate and taking accurate, detailed messages.
  • Maintaining absolute client confidentiality and handling sensitive information with the utmost discretion and professionalism at all times.
  • Utilising case management software, document management systems, and other legal technology tools to track deadlines, update case statuses, and generate reports.
  • Supporting fee earners with billing processes, accurate time recording, and ensuring all relevant administrative tasks are completed promptly and accurately to support client accounts.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal within a legal setting.
  • Excellent drafting and proofreading skills with a strong command of English grammar and legal terminology.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrable experience with legal case management software (e.g., Leap, Proclaim, Clio).
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective client and colleague interaction.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of legal processes and court procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A relevant legal qualification (e.g., CILEx, Paralegal Diploma).
  • Experience in specific legal areas such as Conveyancing, Family Law, or Litigation.
  • Familiarity with digital dictation software.
