As a Legal Assistant, you will be instrumental in the preparation, thorough review, and systematic organisation of a wide variety of legal documents, including but not limited to, correspondence, pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and legal memoranda. Comprehensive case management will be a core responsibility, involving the accurate creation and meticulous maintenance of both physical and electronic client files, tracking critical deadlines, and efficiently coordinating appointments and court filings. Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, proofread, and prepare a variety of legal documents, including correspondence, pleadings, motions, and discovery requests, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legal standards.
  • Organise and maintain both physical and electronic case files, ensuring all documentation is current, accessible, and compliant with confidentiality protocols.
  • Conduct preliminary legal research, gather relevant case information, and summarise findings for attorneys.
  • Manage attorney calendars, schedule appointments, meetings, and court appearances, and track important deadlines.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, answering inquiries, providing updates, and directing calls appropriately, while maintaining a professional and empathetic approach.
  • Assist with the preparation for trials, hearings, and client meetings, including compiling exhibits and organising presentation materials.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail, manage e-filings, and handle general office administration tasks.
  • Prepare and process expense reports, invoices, and other financial documentation as required.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality concerning all client and firm matters.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 18 months of experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar administrative legal role.
  • Proficiency in legal document drafting, formatting, and proofreading.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  • Familiarity with legal research tools and databases.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or certificate in Paralegal Studies or Legal Administration.
  • Experience with specific case management software (e.g., Clio, MyCase).
  • Knowledge of Northern Ireland legal procedures and court systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in a particular area of law (e.g., property, family, litigation).
