Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Consultant to join our advisory service team in Kakamega. This pivotal role involves providing expert legal guidance and strategic advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients, ranging from corporate entities and financial institutions to private businesses and individuals. The successful candidate will be instrumental in helping clients navigate intricate legal challenges, ensure regulatory compliance, mitigate risks, and achieve their strategic objectives. Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal advice and consultation to clients on a wide range of legal matters, including corporate law, commercial transactions, regulatory compliance, employment law, and intellectual property.
- Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support advisory opinions and strategic recommendations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate various legal documents, contracts, agreements, and policies, ensuring compliance with local and international laws.
- Assess legal risks associated with business operations and proposed transactions, providing strategies for mitigation.
- Assist clients in understanding and complying with relevant statutory and regulatory frameworks.
- Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, and alternative dispute resolution processes when necessary.
- Develop and deliver legal training and workshops to clients on emerging legal issues and compliance requirements.
- Stay abreast of changes in legislation, legal trends, and industry best practices relevant to client needs.
- Cultivate strong client relationships by providing timely, high-quality, and commercially relevant legal advice.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions.
Required Skills
- Admitted Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid practicing certificate.
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 4 years post-admission experience in legal consultancy, corporate advisory, or private practice.
- Proven expertise in corporate law, commercial law, contract law, and regulatory compliance.
- Exceptional legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal concepts clearly.
- Strong negotiation and presentation abilities.
- High degree of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

- Master of Laws (LL.M) degree or relevant post-graduate qualification.
