Job Description
Ison Harrison Solicitors is seeking an experienced and highly organized Legal Secretary to join our dynamic Corporate and Commercial team at our bustling Headingley office. This is a crucial role supporting our fee earners and partners in delivering exceptional legal services to our corporate clients. Key Responsibilities
- Providing comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to fee earners and partners within the Corporate and Commercial department.
- Drafting, preparing, and formatting legal documents, correspondence, and presentations with precision and adherence to firm standards.
- Managing diaries, scheduling appointments, organizing meetings, and coordinating travel arrangements.
- Handling incoming and outgoing communications, including telephone calls, emails, and postal correspondence, ensuring timely and professional responses.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client files, both physical and electronic, ensuring strict confidentiality and data protection.
- Processing new client instructions, conducting client due diligence checks, and managing conflict searches.
- Assisting with billing processes, time recording, expense reports, and financial administration.
- Liaising professionally with clients, external counsel, and third parties.
- Conducting basic legal research and preparing bundles for court or client meetings when required.
- Ensuring compliance with firm policies and procedures, including risk management and anti-money laundering regulations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Legal Secretary, specifically within a corporate, commercial, or finance law environment (minimum 3 years).
- Exceptional typing skills and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Strong understanding of legal terminology and corporate legal processes.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- High degree of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
- Professional telephone manner and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and discretion.
- Proficiency in legal case management systems and document management software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant secretarial qualification (e.g., CILEx Level 3 Diploma in Legal Secretaries).
- Experience with specific legal accounting software (e.g., Partner for Windows, Aderant).
