As a Library Assistant, you will be the friendly face and guiding hand for our community members. Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service to all library visitors, answering inquiries and assisting with resource navigation.
- Assist patrons with borrowing, returning, and renewing library materials.
- Help users access and troubleshoot public computers, Wi-Fi, and digital resources.
- Organize and shelve library materials accurately and efficiently, maintaining a tidy and inviting environment.
- Support library programs and events, assisting with setup, registration, and attendee support.
- Process new library registrations and update patron records with attention to detail.
- Handle routine administrative tasks, including processing interlibrary loans and managing reservations.
- Contribute to maintaining a welcoming, safe, and positive atmosphere for all community members.
- Learn and apply library policies and procedures consistently and fairly.
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A genuine passion for helping people and engaging with the community.
- Basic computer literacy and a willingness to learn new software and systems.

Preferred Qualifications
- GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths.

- Local knowledge of Heworth Village and the wider York community.
