Key Responsibilities
- Assemble, install, focus, and maintain a wide array of lighting fixtures and equipment, including conventional, LED, moving lights, followspots, and special effects units.
- Program and operate lighting consoles (e.g., GrandMA, Avolites, Chamsys) during rehearsals and live performances/events.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to lighting equipment, control systems, and cabling promptly and efficiently.
- Collaborate with lighting designers, directors, and other technical staff to interpret design briefs and execute lighting plots.
- Ensure all lighting installations comply with health and safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Conduct pre-event checks, equipment testing, and preventative maintenance.
- Manage power distribution and DMX/Art-Net networking for lighting systems.
- Assist with the loading, unloading, and safe transport of lighting equipment.
- Oversee the efficient and safe derigging and packing of all lighting gear post-event.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace and equipment inventory.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in setting up, programming, and operating various lighting consoles (e.g., GrandMA, Avolites, Chamsys).
- Strong knowledge of DMX, Art-Net, and other lighting control protocols.
- Experience with a range of lighting fixtures, including intelligent lighting, conventional fixtures, and LED technologies.
- Ability to read and interpret lighting plots and technical drawings.
- Proven experience in fault finding and repair of lighting equipment.
- Excellent understanding of electrical safety and rigging principles.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing production needs.
- Valid UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant technical qualification or certification in lighting design/technology.
- Experience with CAD software for lighting design (e.g., Vectorworks, AutoCAD).
- IPAF or PASMA certification.
- First Aid certification.
- Experience working on large-scale events, concerts, or theatrical productions.
- Portfolio showcasing previous lighting work.
