Job Description
Are you a wizard with light, capable of transforming a mere space into an immersive experience? Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Lighting Technician to join our vibrant team based in Hillsborough Park, Sheffield. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of lighting principles, and a dedication to delivering exceptional event aesthetics. As a Lighting Technician, you will be instrumental in the conceptualisation, design, setup, operation, and dismantling of complex lighting systems for a diverse range of live events, including large-scale concerts, corporate functions, theatrical productions, exhibitions, and private celebrations throughout the region and occasionally further afield.
You will work closely with event managers, creative directors, and other technical crew members to bring artistic visions to life, ensuring that every light cue, every colour wash, and every beam perfectly complements the event’s mood and objectives. This role demands not only significant technical proficiency with various conventional and intelligent lighting fixtures, control consoles (such as GrandMA, Avolites, Chamsys), and networking protocols (DMX, Art-Net, sACN) but also a strong creative flair to innovate and troubleshoot on the fly. We are looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, can manage multiple projects simultaneously, and consistently upholds the highest standards of safety, quality, and professionalism.
Your day-to-day will involve interpreting detailed lighting plots and technical drawings, meticulously preparing and testing equipment in our warehouse, leading or assisting with rigging and de-rigging structures at event sites, programming intricate lighting sequences, and expertly operating systems during live events. Beyond the technical aspects, you’ll be a vital part of a collaborative team that prides itself on seamless execution, innovative solutions, and creating truly unforgettable guest experiences. We expect you to be proactive in identifying and resolving technical challenges, contributing ideas for efficiency improvements, and maintaining our cutting-edge equipment to the highest standards. If you’re ready to illuminate the biggest and best events across Sheffield and contribute your expertise to a company celebrated for its innovation and unwavering commitment to quality, we encourage you to apply. We offer a supportive environment where continuous learning, professional development, and opportunities to work on exciting new projects are highly valued.
