As a Line Cook, you will be an integral part of our kitchen brigade, responsible for executing all prep work, cooking, and plating dishes to the highest standards. You’ll ensure strict adherence to recipes, portion control guidelines, and presentation standards, all while maintaining an impeccable level of hygiene and cleanliness. Operating various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including grills, fryers, ovens, and stovetops, will be a daily task. Your role is critical in ensuring a seamless service during peak hours, monitoring food quality and freshness, and promptly reporting any issues to the Head Chef or Sous Chef. Key Responsibilities
- Execute all prep work and mise en place for assigned station with precision and efficiency.
- Cook and plate dishes according to recipes, portion control guidelines, and presentation standards.
- Operate all kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including grills, fryers, ovens, and stovetops.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and sanitary workstation throughout service.
- Monitor food quality and freshness, promptly reporting any issues to the Head Chef or Sous Chef.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and food hygiene regulations.
- Manage inventory and minimise waste, assisting with stock rotation as required.
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service.
- Contribute to a positive and respectful work environment, fostering teamwork.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Line Cook or Chef de Partie in a fast-paced pub or restaurant environment.
- Solid understanding of cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and maintain composure during busy periods.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality dishes.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and food hygiene standards (e.g., HACCP).
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery or equivalent qualification.
- Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or higher).
- Experience with inventory management and ordering.
