Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and community-oriented Loan Officer to be a vital part of our financial service outreach in Samburu County, Kenya. Key Responsibilities
- Identify, recruit, and train new clients on financial literacy and loan products within Samburu County.
- Conduct thorough client assessments, including business analysis and household visits, to determine creditworthiness and repayment capacity.
- Process loan applications accurately and efficiently, ensuring all documentation is complete and compliant with internal policies and regulatory standards.
- Disburse loans and monitor their utilization, ensuring funds are used for the intended purposes.
- Manage and maintain a healthy loan portfolio, actively working to minimize arrears and ensure timely repayments.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to clients, addressing their financial queries and offering solutions.
- Prepare regular reports on portfolio performance, client outreach, and market trends.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and community leaders.
- Actively participate in community engagement activities to promote financial literacy and our services.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in microfinance, banking, or a related financial service role.
- Strong understanding of financial analysis and credit assessment principles.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Fluency in English and Swahili; knowledge of local Samburu dialects is a significant advantage.
- Valid motorcycle riding license and ability to navigate rural terrain.
