Job Description

Maersk is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Logistics Coordinator to join our dynamic team in Nairobi, Kenya. In this critical, on-site role, you will be instrumental in managing and overseeing the smooth and efficient flow of goods through our extensive and complex supply chain network. Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and monitor international and domestic shipments from origin to destination.
- Prepare and manage comprehensive shipping documentation, including bills of lading, customs declarations, and commercial invoices.
- Communicate effectively and proactively with freight forwarders, shipping lines, customs agents, and internal teams to ensure timely deliveries and resolve issues.
- Track and trace shipments diligently, providing regular, accurate updates to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Resolve logistical issues, shipping delays, and discrepancies promptly and efficiently to minimize disruptions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all logistics activities and update relevant systems.
- Ensure strict compliance with international shipping regulations and local customs requirements.
- Optimize transportation routes and methods to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Collaborate closely with procurement and sales teams to align logistics operations with broader business objectives.
- Generate detailed reports on logistics performance, identifying key trends and areas for continuous improvement.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain coordination.
- Proficiency in logistics software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with customs clearance procedures and regulations in Kenya.
- In-depth knowledge of international trade regulations (Incoterms).
- Certifications in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., CILT).
- Fluency in Swahili is an added advantage.
- Prior experience with Maersk's specific logistics platforms and internal systems.
