Key Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
  • Support residents with mobility, transfers, and ambulation, using appropriate assistive devices.
  • Administer medication reminders as per care plan and scope of practice.
  • Observe and report changes in residents' physical, emotional, or cognitive status to nursing staff promptly.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents.
  • Engage residents in social activities and provide emotional support.
  • Document care provided accurately and in accordance with facility policies.
  • Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and infection control protocols.
  • Assist with meal preparation and feeding, ensuring residents receive adequate nutrition and hydration.

Required Skills

  • Completion of a recognized Continuing Care Assistant (CCA) program or equivalent.
  • Proven experience (minimum 1 year) working as a Long Term Care Aide or similar role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong observational and reporting skills.
  • Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for elder care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification.
  • Experience working with diverse resident populations, including those with dementia.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Additional language proficiency is an asset.
