Job Description
National Foods Limited is seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Worker to join our team in Karoi, Mashonaland West Province. This crucial role is responsible for ensuring the optimal functioning of our facility’s infrastructure, machinery, and equipment, contributing significantly to our operational efficiency and safety standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundational knowledge of various trades, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general mechanical repairs. You will be instrumental in conducting routine preventative maintenance, troubleshooting technical issues, and executing timely repairs to minimize downtime and ensure continuous productivity.

You will work closely with the production and operations teams, responding promptly to maintenance requests and implementing solutions that adhere to company policies and industry regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment and machinery to ensure optimal performance and extend asset lifespan.
- Inspect facilities periodically to identify and resolve issues such as faulty equipment, damaged structures, or potential hazards.
- Conduct general repairs and maintenance tasks, including minor electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and mechanical adjustments.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, or plumbing malfunctions and implement effective corrective actions.
- Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and parts used.
- Assist in the installation of new equipment or renovation projects as required.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and address critical issues to minimize operational disruptions.
- Collaborate with other departments to coordinate maintenance work and minimize impact on production schedules.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Worker or a similar role in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong technical knowledge in at least two of the following areas: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and diagrams.
- Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and best practices in industrial maintenance.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects, bend, stoop, and climb ladders regularly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant trade certification (e.g., Artisan Class 1 or 2 in Fitting & Turning, Electrical, Plumbing, or similar).
- High School Diploma or equivalent; technical qualification will be an added advantage.
- Experience with PLC systems and automated machinery.
- Basic computer literacy for record-keeping and inventory management.
- Prior experience in the food manufacturing industry.
