Zanzibar Travel & Tours Ltd. is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Marine Tour Coordinator to join our vibrant team in Kiponda, Zanzibar City. This full-time, on-site role is perfect for someone who dreams of working amidst the stunning turquoise waters and coral reefs of Zanzibar, facilitating unforgettable experiences for our diverse clientele. As a Marine Tour Coordinator, you will be the linchpin in crafting and delivering seamless marine adventures, from thrilling snorkeling excursions to serene sunset dhow cruises. Your primary mission will be to ensure every guest departs with cherished memories, having explored the underwater wonders and pristine islands that make Zanzibar a world-renowned destination. You will manage the end-to-end logistics of our marine tour offerings, collaborating closely with local boat captains, experienced guides, and various community stakeholders to uphold our high standards of safety, quality, and environmental responsibility. This role demands a proactive individual who can balance meticulous planning with on-the-spot problem-solving, all while embodying the warm hospitality Zanzibar is famous for. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and execute a diverse range of marine excursions including snorkeling, diving trips, dhow cruises, and island hopping tours.
  • Liaise effectively with local boat operators, experienced tour guides, and other third-party suppliers to ensure smooth operations.
  • Provide comprehensive briefings to guests on itineraries, safety protocols, and marine conservation guidelines.
  • Manage tour bookings, create detailed itineraries, process payments, and maintain accurate records.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, handle inquiries, and adeptly resolve any issues or complaints that may arise during tours.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations, local maritime laws, and company policies for all marine activities.
  • Actively promote environmental awareness and responsible tourism practices among guests and partners.
  • Assist in the development of new marine tour packages and contribute to marketing and promotional efforts.
  • Regularly inspect equipment and vessels to ensure they meet safety and quality standards.
  • Collect guest feedback to continuously improve service quality and tour offerings.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in tourism, hospitality, or a related field, particularly with marine or outdoor activities.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Fluency in English (both written and spoken).
  • Solid understanding of Zanzibar's marine environment, attractions, and cultural nuances.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving and handling unexpected situations calmly and effectively.
  • Competence in using booking systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A diploma or degree in Tourism Management, Hospitality, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Certification in SCUBA diving or a strong background in marine biology/conservation.
  • Previous experience living or working in Zanzibar or East Africa.
  • Proficiency in Swahili or other international languages (e.g., French, German, Italian, Spanish).
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
