Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and motivated Maritime Dock Aide to join our operations team in Massaca, Boane. This full-time position is vital to ensuring the smooth and efficient handling of cargo and vessels at our dock facilities. As a Maritime Dock Aide, you will be on the front lines, assisting with loading and unloading operations, maintaining a safe and organized dock area, and supporting various logistical tasks. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a strong commitment to safety protocols, and the ability to work effectively as part of a cohesive team in a fast-paced environment. You will gain hands-on experience in maritime logistics, working with diverse types of cargo and equipment, and contributing directly to the vital supply chain that serves our region. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the safe and efficient loading and unloading of cargo from vessels, trucks, and other transport vehicles.
  • Operate basic dock equipment under supervision, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks, ensuring adherence to safety regulations.
  • Inspect incoming and outgoing cargo for damage and discrepancies, documenting findings accurately.
  • Organize and maintain the dock area, ensuring cleanliness, orderliness, and compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Secure cargo using appropriate lashing and bracing techniques to prevent shifting during transit.
  • Communicate effectively with vessel crew, truck drivers, and other team members to coordinate activities.
  • Monitor and report any safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or operational issues to supervisors immediately.
  • Participate in routine equipment checks and basic maintenance as required.
  • Adhere strictly to all company policies, safety procedures, and maritime regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall dock operations.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a logistics, warehouse, or maritime environment.
  • Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 25kg) and perform demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Strong understanding and commitment to workplace safety protocols.
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills for documentation and record-keeping.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven reliability and punctuality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in forklift operation or other heavy equipment.
  • Previous experience in a port or shipping terminal setting.

  • Familiarity with local maritime regulations in Mozambique.
