Job Description
Fair Construction Ltd is actively seeking motivated and hardworking individuals to join our team as Mason Helpers at our construction site in Kamembe, Rusizi. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone looking to start a career in the construction industry. As a Mason Helper, you will play a crucial supporting role, assisting experienced masons and other skilled tradespeople in various tasks to ensure the smooth and efficient progress of our construction projects. You don’t need prior construction experience; we are looking for individuals with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn and contribute.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve a variety of physical tasks, including preparing materials, ensuring tools are clean and organized, assisting with the mixing of mortar and concrete, and maintaining a tidy and safe work area. This role is physically demanding but incredibly rewarding, offering a chance to learn foundational construction skills from seasoned professionals. You will gain hands-on experience with different building materials and techniques, paving the way for potential career advancement within the construction sector. Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled masons and other construction workers in various tasks on the construction site.
- Prepare and transport construction materials such as bricks, blocks, cement, sand, and water.
- Mix mortar and concrete manually or using machinery according to specifications.
- Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Load and unload materials from delivery trucks and organize them on site.
- Help with site preparation and clean-up tasks, including removing debris and waste.
- Follow all safety procedures and regulations, using provided personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Support the overall construction team to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
- Learn and apply basic construction techniques under the guidance of experienced personnel.
Required Skills
- Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Willingness to learn and take instructions from supervisors and skilled workers.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Commitment to adhering to all safety protocols and site rules.
- Basic understanding of Kinyarwanda or English for communication on site.
Preferred Qualifications
- No specific educational requirements, but basic literacy is an advantage.
- Previous experience in a manual labor role or outdoor work is a plus, but not required.
