Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mechanical Engineer with a specialized focus on machinery and systems to join our dynamic engineering team at our Camp Levieux facility. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in the design, development, optimization, and maintenance of a wide range of industrial machinery and complex mechanical systems that are essential to our construction materials production and other operational units. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of our equipment, from heavy-duty production machinery to intricate material handling systems. This position demands a keen eye for detail, strong analytical capabilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, operations, and maintenance, to implement best practices, reduce downtime, and enhance overall operational performance. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and improvement of mechanical systems and components for various industrial machinery.
  • Conduct thorough analysis and troubleshooting of complex mechanical failures to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules and procedures to maximize equipment uptime and extend asset lifespan.
  • Oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of new machinery and system upgrades, ensuring compliance with specifications and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with production and operations teams to optimize machinery performance, reduce energy consumption, and improve process efficiency.
  • Prepare technical specifications, design documents, and project reports for internal stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Ensure all engineering activities adhere to relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and procurement strategies for critical mechanical components.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
  • Participate in capital expenditure projects, evaluating new technologies and recommending solutions to enhance operational capabilities.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment, with a focus on machinery and systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for design and analysis.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles, including thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials science, and kinematics.
  • Demonstrated experience in fault diagnosis, root cause analysis, and practical problem-solving for complex machinery.
  • Familiarity with preventative and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for technical reporting and team collaboration.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, demanding industrial setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional engineering license (e.g., CEng, CPEng) or equivalent.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Prior experience with heavy construction equipment, aggregate processing plants, or cement manufacturing machinery.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP).
