Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated, skilled, and dedicated Medical Lab Technologist to join our vital diagnostics team at Bindura Provincial Hospital. Key Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of laboratory tests in areas such as hematology, chemistry, microbiology, serology, and urinalysis, following established procedures and protocols.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functioning and adherence to quality control measures.
- Analyze and interpret test results, accurately reporting findings to medical staff in a timely manner.
- Prepare specimens for testing, ensuring proper labeling, storage, and handling to maintain specimen integrity.
- Participate in quality assurance and quality control programs to ensure the accuracy and reliability of all laboratory results.
- Adhere strictly to all hospital policies, safety regulations, and ethical guidelines, including patient confidentiality.
- Maintain accurate records of tests performed, results, and quality control data.
- Troubleshoot technical problems with equipment and assays, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Required Skills
- Diploma or Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent.
- Current valid registration with the Medical Laboratory and Clinical Scientists Council of Zimbabwe.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Proficiency in performing a wide range of laboratory tests and operating diagnostic equipment.
- Strong understanding of laboratory quality control and assurance principles.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a public hospital or high-volume laboratory environment.
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
