PSI Mozambique is seeking a dedicated Medical Records Assistant to join our vital team in Nova Mambone, Inhambane Province. Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential patient medical records, both electronic and physical, in compliance with PSI policies and national health regulations.
- Organize, file, and retrieve medical records efficiently for healthcare providers, ensuring timely access to critical patient information.
- Input and update patient demographic data, medical histories, diagnoses, treatments, and other relevant clinical information into databases.
- Conduct regular audits of medical records to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Assist in the preparation of reports by compiling relevant data from medical records for program monitoring, evaluation, and donor reporting purposes.
- Manage record archiving, retention, and secure disposal processes according to established guidelines and privacy standards.
- Provide administrative support to the healthcare team, including scheduling appointments, managing inquiries related to medical records, and ensuring smooth clinic operations.
- Uphold strict confidentiality and security protocols for all patient information, adhering to professional and ethical standards at all times.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (at least 1 year) in administrative support, data entry, or record management, preferably in a healthcare or public health setting.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in using computer systems and data entry software (e.g., MS Office Suite, basic EMR systems).
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive patient information and adhere to privacy regulations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in Portuguese and English.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education or certification in Health Information Management, Office Administration, or a related field.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and public health data collection processes.
- Experience working with international Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) or in a rural healthcare context in Mozambique.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
