Key Responsibilities

  • Provide person-centred practical and emotional support to individuals living with mental health conditions.
  • Assist service users in developing independent living skills, including budgeting, meal preparation, and personal care.
  • Support individuals to access and engage with community resources, educational opportunities, and employment services.
  • Facilitate therapeutic activities and social inclusion initiatives, promoting engagement and well-being.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, family members, and external agencies to ensure holistic care delivery.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records, documenting observations, progress, and incidents in line with policy.
  • Advocate for service users' rights and choices, ensuring their voices are heard and respected.
  • Monitor and report on changes in service user's mental and physical health, escalating concerns to senior staff.
  • Develop and implement crisis management plans, providing immediate support during challenging periods.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a mental health or social care setting.
  • Demonstrable understanding of mental health conditions and their impact.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to build rapport.
  • Proficiency in written communication for report writing and record keeping.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to support.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
  • Right to work in the UK.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care or a related field.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • Training in de-escalation techniques or crisis intervention.
  • Full UK Driving License and access to a vehicle.
