Career.zycto is immediately seeking a dedicated and skilled Mill Operator to join our bustling processing plant team in East Kilbride, Glasgow. This full-time, on-site role is pivotal to our operations, involving the safe and efficient operation of milling machinery to process raw materials into finished products. Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor various milling equipment (e.g., ball mills, roller mills, hammer mills) to process raw materials according to specifications.
- Perform routine checks, preventative maintenance, and minor troubleshooting on machinery to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Accurately load raw materials into mills and unload processed materials, adhering strictly to production schedules and quality parameters.
- Monitor control panels, gauges, and computer systems, making necessary adjustments to machine settings for precise operation.
- Record comprehensive production data, including output volumes, operational efficiency, downtime incidents, and material usage.
- Adhere strictly to all company health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a culture of safety across the plant.
- Collaborate effectively with supervisors, maintenance teams, and fellow operators to identify and resolve operational issues promptly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, ensuring compliance with housekeeping standards.
- Assist with inventory management and material handling using forklifts or other equipment as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) operating heavy machinery in a manufacturing or processing plant environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of industrial machinery operation and basic maintenance.
- Ability to read and accurately interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and standard operational procedures.
- Exceptional attention to detail and precision in executing tasks and monitoring processes.
- Unwavering commitment to workplace safety protocols and adherence to Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Good physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 25kg, stand for extended periods, and work in varied plant conditions.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members and report issues.
- Basic computer literacy for data entry, system monitoring, and electronic record-keeping.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training or a recognized certification in industrial machinery operation, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with specific types of milling equipment relevant to the materials processing industry.
- Valid forklift operator certification.
- Knowledge of quality control procedures and standards in a manufacturing setting.
- Prior experience working in an ISO-certified environment or with lean manufacturing principles.
