Job Description
Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mining Engineer for immediate full-time hire on behalf of our esteemed client, a prominent player in the Canadian mining sector located in the Greater Toronto Area. This critical role involves the comprehensive planning, design, and optimization of both surface and underground mining operations. You will be instrumental in developing safe, efficient, and cost-effective mining plans, ensuring strict compliance with all regulatory standards, environmental best practices, and health and safety protocols.
As a Mining Engineer, you will dive deep into geological data, conduct feasibility studies, and employ advanced mine planning software to create detailed operational strategies. The successful candidate will be a proactive individual with a robust understanding of mineral extraction techniques, rock mechanics, and strong project management capabilities. You will be expected to identify opportunities for process improvement, implement cutting-edge technologies, and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including geologists, metallurgists, and operations personnel.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement mine plans, designs, and schedules for both open-pit and underground operations.
- Conduct detailed economic evaluations, feasibility studies, and risk assessments for new and existing projects.
- Optimize mining sequences, equipment selection, and material handling systems to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations, environmental compliance, and company policies.
- Utilize mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Surpac, AutoCAD Civil 3D) for design, scheduling, and resource modeling.
- Monitor and analyze operational performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
- Collaborate with geological, metallurgical, and operational teams to achieve project objectives.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversee drill and blast designs, ground control, ventilation, and dewatering strategies.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license or eligibility for registration in Ontario.
- Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in mine planning or operations.
- Proficiency with mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Surpac, Vulcan, AutoCAD Civil 3D).
- Strong understanding of mining methods, rock mechanics, and ventilation principles.
- Demonstrated experience in project management and cost control.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
