Key Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize and develop musical direction for various media projects (film, TV, advertising, digital content).
  • Research, identify, and clear existing music for use in productions, ensuring legal compliance.
  • Negotiate and secure music licenses, ensuring adherence to budgetary and creative requirements.
  • Manage music budgets, track expenses, and optimize licensing costs effectively.
  • Collaborate closely with directors, producers, editors, and other creative teams to align music with visual content.
  • Commission original scores and songs, overseeing composers and artists from concept to final delivery.
  • Maintain comprehensive cue sheets and accurate music reporting for all projects.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with artists, record labels, publishers, and music libraries.
  • Stay updated on music industry trends, new artists, copyright law developments, and licensing best practices.
  • Advise on music strategy, placements, and potential sonic branding opportunities.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 4 years) in music supervision for media (film, TV, advertising, games).
  • Extensive knowledge of music history, diverse genres, and contemporary artists.
  • Strong understanding of music licensing, copyright, and publishing rights.
  • Exceptional negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in music editing software and database management.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Music, Film, Media Studies, or a related field.
  • Existing network of contacts within the music industry (labels, publishers, artists).

  • Proficiency in German (written and spoken) is a significant advantage.
