Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with directors, producers, and editorial teams to understand the creative vision and musical needs of film and television projects.
- Conduct extensive music research across various genres, eras, and licensing categories to identify suitable tracks for specific scenes and overall project tone.
- Manage the entire music licensing process, including negotiation of synchronization and master use rights with record labels, publishers, and independent artists.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive music budgets, ensuring all licensing costs align with project financial parameters.
- Prepare and submit all necessary music cue sheets, metadata, and legal documentation for each production.
- Oversee the integration of licensed music into edits, working closely with audio post-production teams.
- Advise on original score composers and facilitate their engagement when required.
- Stay abreast of current music trends, emerging artists, copyright laws, and industry best practices.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with artists, labels, publishers, and music libraries.
- Ensure all music clearances are secured within established timelines and legal requirements.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a Music Supervisor or in a similar music licensing/sync role within film, television, or advertising.
- Demonstrated expertise in music research, clearance, and licensing for visual media.
- Strong understanding of music copyright, publishing, and master recording rights.
- Proven negotiation skills with a track record of securing favorable licensing agreements.
- Exceptional musicality and a broad knowledge of diverse music genres, artists, and historical contexts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating effectively with creative and production teams.
- Proficiency in project management and budget oversight.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
