Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking an exceptional and highly creative Music Supervisor to join our dynamic team in Lanikai, Kailua. This pivotal role involves overseeing all aspects of music selection, licensing, and integration for a diverse slate of film and television projects. The ideal candidate possesses an encyclopedic knowledge of music across genres and eras, a keen ear for storytelling, and a deep understanding of the legal and financial frameworks governing music synchronization. Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with directors, producers, and editorial teams to define the musical vision and aesthetic for film and television projects.
  • Source, curate, and present a diverse range of musical options, including existing licensed tracks, custom compositions, and emerging artists.
  • Negotiate and clear music synchronization licenses with record labels, publishers, and artists, ensuring all legal requirements are met.
  • Manage and adhere to music budgets for each project, tracking expenses and optimizing resources.
  • Oversee the creation and integration of original scores, working closely with composers and orchestrators.
  • Maintain an extensive network of contacts within the music industry, including labels, publishers, artists, and music libraries.
  • Stay current with music trends, industry best practices, and technological advancements in music supervision.
  • Provide creative input and guidance throughout the post-production process, from spotting sessions to final mix.
  • Ensure all music-related deliverables are met on time and within scope.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Music Supervisor in film, television, or a related media industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise in music licensing, copyright, and publishing.
  • Extensive knowledge of music across various genres, eras, and cultural contexts.
  • Proven ability to conceptualize and execute a distinct musical vision for visual content.
  • Strong negotiation and budget management skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation abilities.
  • Proficiency with music editing software and project management tools.
