Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with creative directors, producers, and marketing teams to understand project vision and specific musical needs.
  • Actively research, discover, and curate appropriate music (commercial tracks, production music, bespoke compositions) for various projects including film, television, advertising, digital media campaigns, and internal content.
  • Skillfully negotiate and secure all necessary music licenses, including master use and synchronization rights, with record labels, music publishers, and independent artists.
  • Proactively manage music budgets, meticulously track expenditures, and ensure all licensing agreements are executed within specified financial parameters and project timelines.
  • Cultivate and expand a robust network of contacts within the music industry, including artists, composers, music libraries, record labels, and publishers.
  • Oversee all music-related legal clearances, ensuring strict compliance with copyright laws, intellectual property rights, and contractual obligations.
  • Provide insightful creative direction and constructive feedback on original compositions, scores, and sound design elements.
  • Stay continuously informed about current music trends, emerging artists, popular genres, and evolving licensing practices and technologies.
  • Prepare compelling music pitches and presentations for internal stakeholders and external clients, articulating the creative and strategic rationale for music selections.
  • Maintain accurate and organized documentation of all music assets, licensing agreements, and associated metadata.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 4 years) as a Music Supervisor, Music Licensing Manager, or similar role within media production, advertising, or film/TV.
  • In-depth and current knowledge of music licensing, copyright law, intellectual property, and clearance procedures across various media platforms.
  • Exceptional negotiation and communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build strong industry relationships.
  • Extensive and diverse knowledge of music genres, artists, composers, and global industry trends.
  • Superior project management, organizational, and time management abilities, capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with music libraries, databases, and relevant music supervision software/tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and consistently meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • A keen and discerning ear for identifying and selecting music that perfectly enhances specific visual and narrative content.

  • Bachelor's degree in Music Business, Media Studies, Film Production, Communications, or a related creative field.
