Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed engineering analyses for nuclear systems, components, and fuel cycles, focusing on safety, performance, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop, review, and validate safety assessment reports, licensing documents, and design specifications.
- Conduct thermal-hydraulic, neutronic, and structural analyses using industry-standard software and methodologies.
- Contribute to the design and optimization of advanced reactor concepts, nuclear waste management strategies, and decommissioning plans.
- Provide expert technical guidance and support to project teams, regulatory bodies, and external stakeholders.
- Participate in risk assessments, hazard identification, and incident investigation processes.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in nuclear technology, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external review.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate nuclear engineering principles into broader project scopes.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in nuclear engineering, preferably in areas of reactor design, safety analysis, or waste management.
- Strong understanding of nuclear physics, thermal-hydraulics, and materials behavior in nuclear environments.
- Proficiency with nuclear analysis software (e.g., MCNP, RELAP5, ANSYS, COMSOL).
- Familiarity with national and international nuclear regulatory frameworks (e.g., CNSC, IAEA).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in British Columbia or eligibility for registration.
