Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive, person-centred nursing care to patients on a general ward.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in accordance with professional and organisational standards.
- Administer medications safely and accurately, adhering to policies and procedures.
- Monitor patient vital signs, record observations, and identify changes in condition, escalating concerns as appropriate.
- Manage wound care, catheter care, and other clinical procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring confidentiality at all times.
- Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and multidisciplinary team members.
- Support patient discharge planning and provide relevant health education.
- Participate in ward rounds, team meetings, and contribute to continuous service improvement.
- Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and infection control policies.
- Act as a role model, mentor, and supervise junior staff and students where applicable.
Required Skills
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
- Minimum of 1 year post-registration experience in a hospital ward setting
- Excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities
- Ability to manage a diverse patient caseload effectively
- Proficiency in basic IT skills for electronic patient records
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development
- Right to work in the UK
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electronic patient record systems (e.g., Cerner, Epic)
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification
- Specific training in areas such as venepuncture, cannulation, or ECG interpretation
- Previous experience supervising or mentoring junior colleagues
