Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Professional Nurse to join our dynamic team for hospital duty. This pivotal role involves providing exceptional nursing care to patients across various wards, ensuring their comfort, safety, and recovery. As a Professional Nurse at Mt. Elgon Hospital, you will be at the forefront of patient interaction, performing critical assessments, administering medications, managing treatment plans, and educating patients and their families. Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with daily living activities.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, interpret diagnostic tests, and report changes in patient conditions to physicians promptly.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care techniques.
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and confidential patient medical records.
- Respond effectively to medical emergencies and participate in critical care interventions.
- Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols and hospital policies.
- Assist with medical procedures and surgeries as required, ensuring a sterile and safe environment.
- Supervise junior nursing staff and provide guidance and mentorship.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training initiatives to stay abreast of best practices.
Required Skills
- Valid Nursing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
- Minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience in a hospital setting.
- Proven clinical skills in patient assessment, medication administration, and wound care.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for record keeping.
- Demonstrated empathy, compassion, and a patient-first attitude.
- Ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Higher Diploma or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Specialized training or certification in areas such as ICU, ER, or surgical nursing.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
