Job Description
We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and experienced Nutritionist to join our impactful team in Buhera, Manicaland Province. This crucial role involves spearheading community-based nutrition programs, with a strong focus on improving health outcomes for vulnerable populations, particularly pregnant and lactating women, infants, and young children. The successful candidate will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and monitoring nutrition interventions aimed at preventing and managing malnutrition, promoting healthy eating practices, and enhancing food security within the targeted communities. You will work closely with community health workers, local leaders, and beneficiaries, providing expert guidance, training, and support to ensure the sustainable impact of our initiatives. This position requires a proactive individual with a deep understanding of public health nutrition challenges prevalent in rural settings, excellent communication skills, and an unwavering commitment to humanitarian principles. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement comprehensive community nutrition programs tailored to the needs of Buhera's vulnerable populations.
- Conduct regular nutrition assessments, surveys, and surveillance activities to identify malnutrition trends and inform program adjustments.
- Provide technical guidance and training to community health workers, volunteers, and local partners on nutrition-sensitive approaches and best practices.
- Develop and disseminate culturally appropriate nutrition education materials and conduct awareness campaigns on topics such as infant and young child feeding (IYCF), maternal nutrition, and hygiene.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of nutrition interventions, collecting and analyzing data to report on progress and challenges.
- Collaborate with other ZRCS program areas (e.g., WASH, food security) and external stakeholders to ensure integrated and holistic community development.
- Prepare timely and accurate program reports, case studies, and documentation in line with organizational and donor requirements.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in community nutrition, public health, or humanitarian contexts.
- Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating nutrition programs, particularly in rural settings.
- Strong understanding of national and international nutrition guidelines and protocols.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and training skills, with the ability to engage diverse community groups.
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and report writing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Nutrition or Public Health.
- Experience working with NGOs or international humanitarian organizations.
- Fluency in Shona, in addition to excellent English communication skills.
- Knowledge of local customs and traditions in Manicaland Province.
