As an Outdoor Guide, you will be the authentic face of our adventurous spirit, responsible for meticulously planning and executing a diverse range of outdoor activities. These might include immersive hiking tours through the Leipzig floodplain forest, tranquil nature walks along the city’s lakes, engaging urban exploration tours with an outdoor and historical focus, and other eco-tourism experiences designed to connect people with their environment. You will meticulously prepare for each trip, ensuring all necessary equipment is in pristine order, routes are thoroughly scouted for safety and interest, and all emergency protocols are firmly in place and understood. Your expertise will not only ensure a smooth and enjoyable operation but will also ignite curiosity and a deeper appreciation for the environment in everyone you lead. Key Responsibilities
- Lead engaging and safe outdoor excursions, including hikes, nature walks, and urban outdoor exploration tours.
- Develop and deliver informative commentary on local ecology, history, geography, and cultural points of interest.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants throughout the duration of each tour.
- Thoroughly plan and scout routes, assess weather conditions, and prepare necessary equipment.
- Manage group dynamics, resolve conflicts, and address participant needs and questions professionally.
- Provide basic first aid when necessary and follow emergency procedures effectively.
- Promote Leave No Trace principles and educate participants on environmental stewardship.
- Maintain a positive, enthusiastic, and approachable demeanor at all times.
Required Skills
- Demonstrable experience (2+ years) as an outdoor guide or similar leadership role.
- Excellent knowledge of local flora, fauna, geography, and history of the Leipzig region.
- Strong communication, public speaking, and storytelling abilities.
- Certified in First Aid and CPR (current certification required).
- Exceptional leadership and group management skills.
- Ability to navigate challenging terrain and adapt to varying weather conditions.
- Proficiency in German and English language.
