We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Paralegal with a strong focus on court preparation and legal research to join our growing team in Kippax, Leeds. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct extensive legal research using various databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and prepare detailed memoranda on findings.
- Assist in the drafting, review, and editing of legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, affidavits, and correspondence.
- Manage and organize case files, exhibits, and evidence, ensuring all documentation is accurate, complete, and accessible.
- Prepare for court hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials, including creating trial binders, witness lists, and exhibit lists.
- Liaise with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and third parties to gather information and schedule appointments.
- Summon witnesses and assist with witness preparation.
- Monitor court dockets and calendars, ensuring compliance with all filing deadlines and procedural rules.
- Assist with discovery requests, including drafting interrogatories, requests for production, and responses.
- Perform administrative tasks as needed to support the legal team.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant, specifically with court preparation and litigation support.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Proficiency in legal research software (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
