Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive legal research using various databases and resources to support case development and arguments.
- Draft, review, and proofread legal documents including pleadings, motions, briefs, affidavits, and correspondence.
- Assist in the preparation of legal arguments and presentations for court proceedings.
- Manage and organise case files, evidence, and discovery materials, ensuring meticulous record-keeping.
- Coordinate and schedule client meetings, depositions, hearings, and trials.
- Prepare trial binders, exhibits, witness lists, and other materials required for court.
- Liaise with clients, counsel, court personnel, and third parties to gather information and ensure smooth case progression.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all client and firm information.
- Assist solicitors in various administrative and investigative tasks as required.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legal procedures, deadlines, and ethical standards.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Paralegal, Legal Assistant, or similar role with a focus on litigation.
- Demonstrable proficiency in legal research methodologies and tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and grammar.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities, capable of handling multiple priorities under pressure.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Understanding of Scottish legal terminology, court procedures, and filing requirements.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong ethical compass and commitment to maintaining client confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Accredited Paralegal qualification from a recognised institution (e.g., Strathclyde University, University of Glasgow).
