Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive legal research using various online databases and traditional resources.
- Draft and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, contracts, and correspondence, for attorney review.
- Organize and maintain physical and electronic case files, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
- Assist in the preparation for trials, hearings, and meetings, including compiling exhibits and witness lists.
- Manage and maintain legal calendars, tracking deadlines for filings and court appearances.
- Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, and external parties under attorney supervision.
- Summarize depositions, interrogatories, and other discovery responses.
- Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing mail, and office organization.
- Assist attorneys with client intake, initial case assessment, and information gathering.
- Ensure compliance with local legal procedures and professional ethical standards.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Legal Studies/Paralegal Studies.
- Proficiency in legal research methodologies and tools (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw, or local equivalents).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Discretion and ability to handle confidential information.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
