Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive parks and recreation programs and services that meet community needs and interests.
- Oversee the maintenance and development of all park facilities, recreational areas, public grounds, and equipment, ensuring safety and accessibility standards are met.
- Manage departmental budgets, including forecasting, expenditure tracking, and seeking grant opportunities for park improvements and program expansion.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate a diverse team of full-time, part-time, and seasonal staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Collaborate with community organizations, local government agencies, and stakeholders to identify partnership opportunities and enhance public services.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures related to parks, recreation, and public safety.
- Act as a primary point of contact for public inquiries, concerns, and feedback regarding parks and recreation services.
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote programs, events, and facilities to maximize community participation.
- Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and proposals for municipal leadership and community boards.
- Lead strategic planning initiatives for long-term growth and sustainability of the city’s recreational assets.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in parks and recreation management or a related public sector field.
