Job Description

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and experienced Part-Time Payroll Specialist to join our finance department. This crucial role involves ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all council employees, adhering strictly to local labor laws, taxation regulations, and internal policies. Key Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly and monthly payroll for all council employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Verify and input payroll data, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, benefits deductions, and leave accruals.
  • Ensure compliance with all Zimbabwean labor laws, ZIMRA (Zimbabwe Revenue Authority) regulations, and social security contributions (NSSA).
  • Prepare and submit statutory payments and returns, including PAYE, NSSA, and other relevant levies.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
  • Generate payroll reports for management, finance, and auditing purposes.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records, ensuring data integrity and security.
  • Respond to employee queries regarding payroll, deductions, and benefits in a professional and timely manner.
  • Assist with year-end payroll procedures and audit preparations.
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources department to ensure seamless information flow regarding employee data.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar role (minimum 2 years).
  • Solid understanding of payroll processes and best practices.
  • Proficiency in payroll software systems (e.g., Pastel Payroll, Sage Payroll) and Microsoft Excel.
  • In-depth knowledge of Zimbabwean labor laws and ZIMRA tax regulations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
