Job Description

Mountain Gorilla View Lodge is seeking a passionate and experienced Part-Time Yoga Instructor to enrich our guests’ wellness journey. In the heart of Rwanda’s stunning volcanic landscape, just moments from the Volcanoes National Park, our lodge offers a unique opportunity to blend the tranquility of yoga with the adventure of gorilla trekking. As our Yoga Instructor, you will be instrumental in enhancing the overall guest experience, providing inspiring and accessible yoga classes that cater to various skill levels, from beginners seeking gentle stretching after a trek to experienced practitioners desiring a deeper flow.

This role involves designing and leading engaging yoga sessions that promote physical well-being, mental clarity, and spiritual rejuvenation amidst our picturesque surroundings. You will be responsible for creating a welcoming, safe, and motivating atmosphere for all participants, ensuring each session contributes positively to their stay. We are looking for an individual who can connect genuinely with our diverse international clientele, offering personalized attention and modifications as needed. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and lead inspiring, safe, and engaging yoga classes (e.g., Hatha, Vinyasa, Restorative) for individuals and small groups.
  • Adapt instruction to accommodate various fitness levels, ages, and physical conditions of guests.
  • Provide clear, concise verbal cues and demonstrations, along with hands-on adjustments as appropriate.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting yoga space.
  • Arrive punctually for all scheduled classes and engage with guests before and after sessions.
  • Uphold the highest standards of professionalism and guest service consistent with a luxury lodge environment.
  • Be knowledgeable about yoga philosophy, anatomy, and safety practices.
  • Actively promote wellness programs and integrate them seamlessly into the guest experience.
  • Respond to guest inquiries and feedback regarding yoga and wellness services.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) certification from a recognized institution.
  • At least 2 years of proven experience teaching various yoga styles to diverse groups.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English (fluency required).
  • Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and modification techniques.
  • Ability to create a welcoming, inclusive, and motivational class environment.
  • Reliable, punctual, and highly professional demeanor.
  • Demonstrated passion for health, wellness, and mindful living.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional certifications in specialized yoga styles (e.g., prenatal, therapeutic yoga).
  • Experience working in a hospitality or retreat setting.
  • Knowledge of Kinyarwanda or French is a plus.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience with meditation or mindfulness instruction.
