Job Description

Are you passionate about creativity and have a keen eye for detail? Diamonds Mapenzi Beach is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Party Decoration Assistant to join our vibrant events team on a part-time basis. In this role, you will be instrumental in transforming our beautiful resort spaces into stunning backdrops for various events, including weddings, birthdays, themed nights, and special celebrations. You will work closely with our lead decorators and event coordinators, contributing to all stages of event setup, execution, and breakdown. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the setup and arrangement of various decorations, including balloons, flowers, lighting, fabrics, and props, for a wide range of events.
  • Support the lead decorator in conceptualizing and executing decorative themes as per event requirements and guest preferences.
  • Prepare event spaces by ensuring all decorative elements are clean, functional, and aesthetically pleasing.
  • Help with the placement of tables, chairs, linens, and table settings to align with the overall decoration scheme.
  • Participate in the dismantling and packing away of decorations and equipment after events, ensuring proper storage and inventory management.
  • Assist with the maintenance and repair of decoration inventory, reporting any damages or shortages.
  • Transport decorative items and equipment safely to and from event locations within the resort.
  • Collaborate effectively with other resort departments, such as F&B, housekeeping, and maintenance, to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and resort policies while performing duties.

Required Skills

  • Basic understanding of aesthetics and visual merchandising.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and hands-on ability.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, lift, and carry decorations and equipment (up to 15kg).
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by event schedules.
  • Positive attitude and a strong commitment to guest satisfaction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in hospitality, event setup, or a similar decorative role.
  • Familiarity with various decoration materials and techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of floral arrangements or balloon artistry.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and Swahili.
