Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a dedicated, empathetic, and detail-oriented Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join our compassionate team in the historic Old Colorado City, Colorado Springs. Your day-to-day will involve assisting patients with a variety of activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, mobility, feeding, and positioning. You will be responsible for accurately monitoring and recording vital signs, observing changes in patient condition, and promptly reporting any concerns to the nursing staff. Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe patient environment is paramount, requiring diligence in infection control practices and equipment management. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
  • Monitor and accurately record vital signs, intake, and output, reporting any changes or concerns to the nursing staff promptly.
  • Assist with patient mobility, transfers, and ambulation, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Document patient observations, care provided, and other relevant information in electronic health records (EHR).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe patient environment, including tidying rooms and changing linens.
  • Perform basic care procedures such as specimen collection, glucose monitoring, and assisting with medical equipment under direct supervision.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, fostering a comforting and respectful atmosphere.
  • Adhere strictly to infection control protocols and facility policies and procedures.
  • Respond to patient calls and requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate effectively with the nursing team and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program or equivalent patient care training.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience in a direct patient care role (e.g., CNA, PCT, Medical Assistant).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and empathetic approach.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift, and assist with patient transfers.
  • Basic computer proficiency for documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ year of experience as a Patient Care Technician in an acute care or clinic setting.
  • Phlebotomy skills or certification.
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Multilingual abilities, especially Spanish.
