Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dedicated Full-Time Pediatric Nurse to join a dynamic healthcare team in the Exhibition Park area of Guelph. This is an incredible opportunity for a Registered Nurse with a passion for pediatric care to make a tangible difference in the lives of young patients and their families. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to pediatric patients, including infants, children, and adolescents, in various clinical settings.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, document findings accurately, and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Administer medications, perform treatments, and manage medical equipment safely and effectively according to established protocols.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs, observe for changes in condition, and promptly report any concerns to physicians.
  • Educate patients and their families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medication administration, and home care instructions.
  • Provide emotional support and comfort to pediatric patients and their families during illness and recovery.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to all privacy regulations.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including physicians, therapists, and social workers, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with best practices in pediatric nursing.

Required Skills

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience in pediatric nursing
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate pediatric patient care.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in administering medications and performing clinical procedures on pediatric patients.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient and family care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems specific to pediatric care
  • Certification in Pediatric Nursing (CPN) or other relevant specialty certification
  • Fluency in additional languages pertinent to the diverse Guelph community
