As a Pension Administrator, you will be instrumental in the day-to-day management and administration of various pension plans, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and exceptional service delivery to plan members and sponsors. Key Responsibilities
- Administer defined benefit (DB) and defined contribution (DC) pension plans, ensuring adherence to plan texts and regulatory requirements.
- Process pension calculations, including retirements, terminations, deaths, marriage breakdowns, and transfers, with precision and timeliness.
- Prepare annual pension statements, communication materials, and government filings (e.g., AIP, T1004) accurately and efficiently.
- Respond to inquiries from plan members, plan sponsors, and external auditors regarding pension benefits, rules, and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date participant records within the pension administration system.
- Assist with annual plan audits and valuation processes, providing necessary data and support.
- Stay informed about changes in pension legislation, regulations, and industry best practices.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of experience in pension plan administration (DB and/or DC plans).
- Strong understanding of Canadian pension legislation (e.g., PBA, ITA).
- Proficiency in pension administration software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and mathematical skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- College diploma or university degree in Business Administration, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Enrollment in or completion of industry designations (e.g., CEBS, PPAC).
- Experience with a variety of pension plan structures and clients.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset.
