You will become a vital part of our community, working directly with clients in their homes or designated care settings. Your days will be filled with purpose, assisting with personal care, including bathing, grooming, and dressing; supporting with meal preparation and feeding; administering medication reminders; performing light housekeeping duties; and providing mobility support and transfers. Beyond the practical tasks, your ability to form meaningful connections, engage clients in enriching activities, facilitate social interaction, and communicate effectively and compassionately with families and other healthcare professionals will be key to success. Key Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care including bathing, dressing, grooming, and oral hygiene.
- Assist clients with mobility, transfers, and exercise programs as directed.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding, adhering to dietary restrictions.
- Administer medication reminders and document adherence.
- Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and tidy environment.
- Engage clients in social activities, conversation, and companionship.
- Monitor and report changes in clients' physical or mental health to supervisors and family members.
- Maintain accurate and timely client records and care plans.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with clients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Adhere to all health and safety protocols and company policies.
Required Skills
- Completion of a Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate or equivalent healthcare aide program.
- Minimum of 1 year (12 months) of experience in a caregiving role, preferably in home care or long-term care.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and compassion.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting and transferring clients.
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation (asset for home care roles).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with diverse client populations.
- Knowledge of various cultural practices and sensitivities.
- Ability to speak multiple languages (an asset).
- Experience with individuals living with dementia or other cognitive impairments.
