Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately dispense prescription medications and provide comprehensive patient counselling on proper usage, potential side effects, and storage.
  • Review and interpret prescriptions to ensure accuracy, safety, and appropriateness of therapy, performing drug utilization reviews.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient medication regimens and resolve medication-related issues.
  • Manage and maintain accurate patient records and medication profiles, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and professional standards.
  • Provide immunizations and other health screenings as authorized and necessary, contributing to public health initiatives.
  • Oversee pharmacy inventory, including ordering, stocking, and managing expired medications.
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to best practices.
  • Stay current with new pharmaceutical products, services, and legislation through continuous professional development.
  • Offer expert advice on over-the-counter medications and general health inquiries to patients.
  • Implement and maintain quality assurance procedures to ensure high standards of pharmaceutical care.

Required Skills

  • Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) in the UK.
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal.
  • Proven experience in community pharmacy or hospital pharmacy setting.
  • Strong clinical knowledge and understanding of pharmaceutical care principles.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare providers.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in dispensing and record-keeping.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in pharmacy management software and general computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Independent Prescribing qualification.
  • Experience with advanced pharmacy services, e.g., minor ailments, NMS.
  • Familiarity with local NHS services and healthcare pathways in North Yorkshire.
  • A track record of continuous professional development and further education.
