Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical conditions, medical histories, and functional abilities.
  • Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based physiotherapy treatment plans tailored to patient needs and goals.
  • Utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques, including manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, electrotherapy, and hydrotherapy.
  • Educate patients and their families on exercises, injury prevention, pain management, and strategies for independent living.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to optimize outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, including assessment findings, treatment progress, and discharge summaries.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide clear and compassionate communication to patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Adhere to professional standards, ethical guidelines, and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Participate in continuous professional development and training to stay current with best practices in physiotherapy.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience as a Physiotherapist in a hospital or clinic setting.
  • Current registration and license to practice Physiotherapy in Jamaica.
  • Demonstrated expertise in musculoskeletal, neurological, and post-operative rehabilitation.
  • Excellent assessment, diagnostic, and clinical reasoning skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate medical records and documentation.
  • Empathy, patience, and a patient-centered approach to care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specialized certifications in areas such as manual therapy, sports physiotherapy, or pediatric physiotherapy.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Experience in community health programs or public sector healthcare.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential or experience mentoring junior staff.
