Key Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems, fixtures, pipes, and appliances in residential and commercial settings.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout of plumbing systems.
- Cut, thread, bend, and connect pipes of various materials (copper, PVC, PEX) using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Inspect and test installed plumbing systems for leaks, compliance with codes, and proper operation.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot plumbing problems, including leaks, clogs, and system malfunctions.
- Ensure all installations and repairs adhere to local building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Provide excellent customer service, explaining work performed and addressing client concerns.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including proper disposal of waste materials.
- Collaborate with other construction professionals, such as electricians and carpenters, to ensure coordinated project completion.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Plumbing Installer or similar role.
- Thorough knowledge of plumbing systems, materials, and equipment.
- Proficiency in using plumbing tools and equipment (e.g., pipe cutters, wrenches, soldering equipment).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
- Strong understanding of local plumbing codes and safety regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Good physical stamina and manual dexterity.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade certification or diploma in Plumbing.
- Valid Class 4 driver's license.
- Experience with various types of hot water systems (e.g., geysers, solar water heaters).
- Familiarity with water reticulation systems in the Zimbabwean context.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
