Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Policy Assistant to join our team in Narok County, Kenya. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual passionate about public policy and its impact on local communities. As a Policy Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our policy development, research, and advocacy efforts, contributing directly to initiatives that drive positive change in the region. You will be instrumental in conducting thorough research on socio-economic issues, analyzing existing policies, and assisting in the formulation of new strategies designed to address community needs and advance our organizational objectives. This role requires excellent analytical skills, a strong ability to synthesize complex information, and impeccable written and verbal communication. You will work closely with various stakeholders, including local government officials, community leaders, and subject matter experts, to gather insights and build consensus around policy recommendations. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive research and data analysis on various policy areas relevant to Narok County and Kenya.
  • Draft policy briefs, reports, presentations, and other communication materials for diverse audiences.
  • Assist in the organization and facilitation of stakeholder meetings, workshops, and public consultations.
  • Monitor legislative and policy developments at local, national, and regional levels, providing timely updates.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support to the policy team, ensuring smooth project execution.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of advocacy strategies.
  • Maintain organized records of policy documents, research findings, and communication logs.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in policy research and analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Swahili.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, Economics, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Experience working with governmental or non-governmental organizations in Kenya.
  • Familiarity with the socio-economic and political landscape of Narok County.
  • Experience with statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R) is a plus.
