Job Description
Are you passionate about animal care and looking for a rewarding, hands-on role in agriculture? Chekfa Farm is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Poultry Worker to join our growing team in New Grove, Grand Port District. This is an essential, hands-on role critical to the daily operations and success of our farm. As a Poultry Worker, you will be responsible for the health, welfare, and productivity of our chicken and other livestock. Your daily tasks will include precise feeding and watering of animals according to schedules, maintaining clean and hygienic living environments by regularly cleaning coops and enclosures, thoroughly monitoring animal health for any signs of illness, injury, or distress, collecting, sorting, and carefully packaging eggs, and assisting with general farm maintenance.
This role requires a strong work ethic, meticulous attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to animal welfare, ensuring all animals are treated with care and respect. You should be reliable, able to work effectively as part of a close-knit team, and comfortable with the physical demands inherent in farm work, which may include lifting up to 25 kg, bending, stooping, and working outdoors in various weather conditions. While previous experience with poultry or livestock is a significant advantage, we are also willing to provide comprehensive on-the-job training to individuals with the right attitude, a keen desire to learn, and a genuine interest in agricultural practices. Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily feeding and watering of poultry and other livestock, ensuring proper nutrition and hydration levels.
- Clean and disinfect poultry houses, enclosures, and equipment regularly to maintain optimal hygiene standards and prevent disease.
- Monitor the health and welfare of all animals, diligently identifying and reporting any signs of illness, injury, or distress to farm management.
- Collect, sort, clean, and package eggs according to strict farm quality and safety standards.
- Assist with the safe movement, handling, and general care of various livestock, adhering to animal welfare guidelines.
- Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs of farm infrastructure, including fencing, feeders, water lines, and shelters.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of feeding schedules, egg production, animal health, and other operational data.
- Adhere strictly to biosecurity protocols to prevent the introduction and spread of diseases within the farm.
- Operate basic farm machinery and equipment safely and efficiently after proper training.
- Support other general farm tasks as needed, contributing to the overall efficiency and productivity of the farm operations.

- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor, including lifting up to 25 kg, standing, and bending for extended periods.
