Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Procurement Assistant to join our dynamic purchasing and supply team in Curepipe. This critical role supports the efficient acquisition of goods and services necessary for our extensive supermarket operations, ensuring optimal stock levels, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to quality standards. As a Procurement Assistant, you will be instrumental in the end-to-end purchasing process, from initial requisition to delivery and invoice reconciliation. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Procurement Manager in sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods and services in line with company policies and budget.
- Prepare and process purchase orders, ensuring accuracy of specifications, pricing, and delivery schedules.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers regarding order status, delivery issues, and quality concerns.
- Maintain and update supplier information, contracts, and pricing databases.
- Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with various departments to determine purchasing needs.
- Expedite orders and resolve discrepancies or delays to ensure timely delivery of goods.
- Assist in vendor selection and evaluation processes, ensuring compliance and performance standards.
- Reconcile invoices with purchase orders and delivery notes, escalating any discrepancies for resolution.
- Generate procurement reports and analyze data to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve efficiency.
- Support the implementation of new procurement strategies and initiatives.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and ethical standards in procurement activities.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a procurement, purchasing, or supply chain role, preferably in retail or FMCG.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills (written and verbal) in English and French.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Understanding of basic supply chain principles and inventory management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
- Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems or procurement software.
- Knowledge of local supplier markets and regulations in Mauritius.
